Sonographia, an annual event pioneered by the United Medical Institute (UMI), stands as a shining testament to the prowess and potential of Diagnostic Medical Sonography students. This competition not only offers students a platform to showcase their talents but also invites them to engage with their community while receiving valuable feedback from industry experts.
A Platform for Skills and Professionalism
Sonographia is more than a competition; it's a celebration of skill and professionalism. The Sonogram Category of the competition challenges participants to submit high-quality ultrasound images. These submissions are meticulously evaluated based on criteria such as image clarity, proper annotation, absence of artifacts, and adherence to AIUM standardized optimization. For the Skill Demo category of the competition, students have the opportunity to record themselves performing their skills in patient positioning, knobology, and scanning.
Rewards and Recognition
The winners of both the Sonogram Competition and the Skill Demo category earn more than accolades. They receive a scholarship equivalent to a one-year Student Membership with Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) and the honor of being recognized and promoted on UMI's social media platforms. Regardless of the outcome, all participants are awarded a Certificate of Participation, honoring their dedication and commitment.
